The San Francisco Standard seeks a Senior Manager of Social Media to join our team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping social strategy and audience engagement for a rapidly expanding digital media company.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and execute social media strategy; implement best practices to grow and optimize social media footprint and engagement across channels
  • Manage the social team, guide the day-to-day operations
  • Conceive and help create social-first or social-only content in coordination with editorial team
  • Develop a deep understanding of our audiences across various platforms; advise editorial and management teams on social media trends
  • Monitor performance metrics and leverage insights to make recommendations to the larger team
  • Identify new growth opportunities based on emerging digital trends, competitive business intelligence, and consumer insight
  • Oversee and manage internal documentation of social best practices and guidelines
  • Collaborate with external social partners, vendors, and 3rd party platforms

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years managing a social media team. Experience in media/publishing a plus.
  • Demonstrable track record of growing social audiences
  • Strong understanding of social media marketing strategy and the entire social marketing mix—paid, organic, owned and earned
  • Deep experience with web and social analytics tools; proficiency in metrics-based decision making
  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to be both a self-starter and team player; strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to balance priorities and thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Early adopter of new and emerging social media platforms; passionate about both being a user/consumer of social content as well as analyst/strategist

This position is either in-person (San Francisco) or remote. We offer a very competitive compensation package and benefits.

The pay range for this role is $150,000 to $250,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate. We encourage you to apply even if you don’t fit the preferred qualifications of the job.
