The Standard is expanding our data journalism with a new position for a creative reporter focused on telling approachable stories visually.
We are looking for a proactive, innovative thinker who can create visual stories and interactive features. You will be on our enterprise team, working alongside other data and investigative reporters. The top candidate will excel at working independently and as part of a team, and at juggling stories across varied timelines, from quick turns to slow burns.
You will develop your own ideas for data-driven stories, as well as work with other reporters and editors to develop the graphic components of our newsroom's most ambitious projects.
You should be comfortable gathering and handling data to produce a variety of visualizations, and have an eye for detail to make sure the information is expressed correctly and effectively. You should be experienced with off-the-shelf graphics solutions such as Datawrapper, Flourish and Mapbox, and able to train other reporters and editors in their use and best practices.
